Isotonitazepyne (N-pyrrolidino- isotonitazene, NPI)
Isotonitazepyne (N-pyrrolidino- isotonitazene, NPI) is a potent synthetic opioid and belongs to the 2-benzylbenzimidazole-opioid drug class commonly known as “nitazenes.” The 2-benzylbenzimidazole-opioids were initially synthesized in the 1950s but never gained approval for any clinical indication. Isotonitazepyne (other names: N-pyrrolidino isotonitazene) is an opioid analgesic, derivative, metabolite of isotonitazene.
This designer drug was first discovered in Russia in 2022, and was later discovered in New Zealand in 2023.

Pharmacology
According to human and animal studies, this drug has a high opioid activity several dozen times higher than morphine.
This drug can cause effects such as pain relief, sedation, and can also cause euphoria.
Side effects of the drug such as itching, nausea, respiratory depression may occur with improper dosage, abuse.

Isotonitazepyne is illegal in the U.S. state of Virginia.
